We are changing
From April 2010, a new staff structure and revised functions for the Scottish Health Council will become effective. These changes are described in our Action Plan: A form fit to function
which was approved by the Cabinet Secretary for Health and Wellbeing in May 2009.

The Action Plan was developed following an independent review which took place in 2008, and it sets out our direction of travel for the future. In producing the Action Plan, the Scottish Health Council engaged with key stakeholders, including staff and NHS Boards. We also worked closely with
NHS Quality Improvement Scotland, in partnership with our own staff and Trade Unions, to consider how best to develop the future functions and structure of the organisation.
The Action Plan identifies our key priorities for the future, and a revised approach, based on the following functions:
- Community Engagement and Improvement Support – providing proactive and tailored support for NHS Boards
- Participation Review – review and evaluation of NHS Boards' approaches to participation
- The Participation Network – a centre for the exchange of knowledge, support, development and ideas.
We look forward to implementing these changes in the coming months.
