PPF Development Strategy

The Scottish Health Council held a meeting for stakeholders in November 2008 to discuss how best to support Public Partnership Forums across Scotland.

Following this meeting an action plan was published in January 2009. The following are some of the outputs that have been achieved since that time.

  • Four national networking events were held for Chairs, Vice Chairs and Public Partnership Forum staff. Reports on these can be found in the events section of this website.
  • Local Officers have worked with Public Partnership Forum members to identify key areas for development. This has been done in partnership with NHS boards and Community Health Partnership managers and will lead to local action plans for improvement. Information on this work was shared at the Chairs' Network Event in October 2009 and a further update on the pilots was given at the March 2010 Network Event.
  • A group met to consider any updates required to the 2004 Advice Note and feedback was shared with Scottish Government who own the guidance. Any changes will be considered as part of the Scottish Government-led work that will take place over 2011-12 on what further support is needed for Public Partnership Forums.
  • A publicity group involving Public Partnership Forum members and staff produced an information leaflet which has been widely shared and is available online in a range of community languages.
  • A 'Meet the Specials' event was held in March 2009 to ***.

Since this work was initiated a number of changes have taken place, including the change to the Scottish Health Council's organisational structure and functions. Our local offices continue to support the Public Partnership Forums in their area and we are currently exploring how we can facilitate networking opportunities at a national level. However, these are currently 'on hold' pending the outcome of the Scottish Government-led review of the existing approach to Public Partnership Forums and the development and support that may be needed in future.

Public Partnership Forums should contact their Scottish Health Council Local Office for any further information or support.
