Public Partners

The Scottish Health Council is part of Link opens in a new windowHealthcare Improvement Scotland which has attained the Link opens in a new windowInvesting in Volunteers quality standard. This recognises our commitment to our volunteers and that we have demonstrated we have the right processes and support in place to sustain and develop volunteering across the organisation.

Involving people in our work is an integral part of what we do. We listen to and learn from the experiences of patients, carers and members of the public to help inform what we do and how we work with NHS Boards across Scotland.

We involve a variety of people in a range of ways:

  • public partners (volunteers) provide an ongoing public perspective to our work and help in the development of standards and guidelines, sharing good practice and inspections
  • patients, carers and members of the public take part in our focus groups, surveys and events
  • third sector colleagues who represent the interests of patients and carers work with us on areas of shared interest.
